It was then that Pando was named "Best Composer" by the Argentine Society of Authors and Composers of Music.
In an era when rock predominated in English, Pando, who was the vocalist and keyboardist, recorded over 30 albums in Spanish. Among his hits are “El extraño de Pelo Largo” (The Stranger with Long Hair) and “La extraña de las Botas Rosas” (The Strange One in Pink Boots), the latter of which catapulted him to international recognition and led to the filming of two movies: El Profesor Hippie and El Extraño del Pelo Largo.
In the 1970s, Pando moved to Germany, where he lived for 25 years. In 1989, he composed the official anthem for the World Gymnastics Championships in Germany, and in 1996, he collaborated with the Berlin Philharmonic.
